Into The Woods

Into the Woods is a musical by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine that intertwines various fairy tales with a dark and humorous twist.

The show debuted on Broadway in 1987 and won several Tony Awards, including Best Score and Best Book. It has been revived and adapted many times since then.

The story follows a baker and his wife who are cursed by a witch and must collect four items from different fairy tale characters to break the spell and have a child. Along the way, they encounter Cinderella, Jack, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and other familiar figures, who face the consequences of their wishes and actions.

With a main cast and chorus of 41 strong – each and every one of the children, had an important part to play.

Sebastian, who played the Narrator commanded our attention from the outset and proceeded to lead and inform the audience throughout. Seini portrayed the wicked witch to perfection – well versed since her portrayal of Miss Trunchbull in last year’s production, Matilda.

Jack, played by Robert, acted and sang his heart out and the dance performed by the wolf A.K.A Rupert, will be forever remembered!

The two dashing princes, searching for Cinderella and Rapunzel, gave the audience a lovely duet and the girls, Evie and Maisy were great. Little Red Riding Hood, the baker and his wife, were all outstanding.

Not forgetting everyone who worked tirelessly back stage – from the sound, music, lighting, props, wardrobe, set design – it really was a team effort.

Last but not least – Miss Arch, who directed with true professionalism and care, has yet again, produced another unforgettable show!
