"Set your goals high and don't stop until you get there"

Sport plays an integral role within Chafyn Grove daily life and our aim is to develop the pupil’s confidence, understanding and leadership by encouraging teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship. All pupils are given equal opportunity to learn and develop their skills and they are encouraged to take advantage of the extensive and valuable opportunities on offer.

We offer a range of sports and have a comprehensive fixtures list of matches against other schools in; Rugby, Hockey, Netball, Cricket, Squash, Athletics, Swimming and Cross Country. We also provide support to athletes who are involved in other sports outside of school, to help them achieve their ambitions.  In this regard, we have a number of pupils who are selected in county and regional sides each year, including Cricket and Swimming and the school regularly plays at National level in Hockey, Athletics and Rugby.  Former pupils include Tom Carr-Smith (Sherborne, Bath Rugby and England U20) and Star Horlock (Marlborough, England Hockey). Here, at Chafyn Grove, we also enter teams at ISA and IAPS Regional tournaments in Hockey, Rugby, Cricket and Swimming which offers a wider experience of matches against schools outside of our normal area.  Annual sports tours throughout the year also play a role within our sporting timetable, allowing pupils to learn further about teamwork, adaptability, resilience and learn how to organize themselves as well as supporting others. Our sporting success extends further through regular annual, sports scholarship success to schools such as Warminster, Radley, Clayesmore, to name a few.

We are fortunate to have a fantastic and comprehensive range of facilities here at Chafyn Grove including:

  • A superb two-storey sports hall
  • A 25m 4 lane outdoor swimming pool
  • Two all-weather AstroTurf pitches
  • Tennis and netball courts
