Two Historic Schools Unite to Deliver Outstanding Education in Salisbury
This year marks a significant milestone for education in Salisbury as Chafyn Grove and Godolphin come together to enhance the educational opportunities for children in the area.
It was recently announced that Chafyn Grove School in Salisbury will be joining the United Learning Group, of which Godolphin is a proud member. This exciting development paves the way for both schools to collaborate and deliver an exceptional educational experience for pupils aged 3–19 in Salisbury. In an announcement to staff and parents, the Governors said that the decision followed extensive internal discussions about how best to secure a stable future for the School. United Learning is one of the most established schools’ groups in the country and already includes the nearby Godolphin School, which joined the Group last year.
Jenny Price, Head of Godolphin commented:
“Godolphin and Chafyn Grove share a long-standing commitment to academic excellence, pastoral care, and co-curricular opportunities. By coming together, we are building on our shared traditions and strengths to create an even brighter future for our pupils and the local community. This collaboration ensures that every child will have access to the highest quality education in a supportive and inspiring environment.”
Despite the best efforts of staff and leadership, declining numbers at Godolphin Prep have presented challenges in sustaining an environment we strive to provide for every child. As a result, Godolphin Prep will close at the end of the academic year, with current pupils being offered places here at Chafyn Grove.
To ensure the best outcomes for pupils, Chafyn Grove and Godolphin are working closely to provide a seamless transition. Pupils from Godolphin Prep will continue to benefit from an excellent prep education at Chafyn Grove, with access to a larger school environment offering greater opportunities, resources, and experiences.
Simon Head, Head of Chafyn Grove, added:
“Chafyn Grove is delighted to welcome Godolphin Prep pupils into our school community. Both schools share a proud history and a dedication to nurturing each child’s potential. We look forward to building on these shared values to offer an enriched and dynamic educational experience for all.”
Building on its long-standing reputation for educational excellence, Chafyn Grove will now be able to offer provision stretching all the way through to A Level through a close relationship with Godolphin School. As part of this announcement, it was confirmed that Chafyn Grove, will be phasing out Year 7 & Year 8 and from September 2027 Chafyn Grove will provide education for children aged 3 – 11. A reciprocal arrangement ensures that pupils completing their education at Chafyn Grove will have a guaranteed place at Godolphin for their secondary schooling, should they wish to continue their journey with the Godolphin community.
This announcement reflects a shared vision for the future, combining the traditions and strengths of both schools while enhancing the educational landscape for families in Salisbury. Both schools will remain separate entities, however, pupils across both school communities will benefit from shared access to exceptional facilities and resources.
